Junior Bookkeeper/Office Administrator

Location: Johannesburg North

Contract duration: 6-12 months

Salary: Negotiable depending on skills and experience

About the Role

Our client, a fast-growing organisation in the grocery delivery space in South Africa urgently seeks to fill the above role. Operating in a dynamic, tech-driven environment, the company is expanding rapidly and requires strong operational support to keep pace with growth. This role will combine office administration with coordination responsibilities across bookkeeping, payroll, and HR functions. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-moving setting, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and seamless support for both management and staff as the organisation scales.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a candidate who:

  • Is adaptable and resilient, comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving industry.
  • Has strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Communicates effectively and can liaise confidently with external service providers (payroll, HR consultants).
  • Is tech-savvy and able to navigate digital platforms and tools with ease.
  • Demonstrates initiative, reliability, and a solutions-oriented mindset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage bookkeeping and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Coordinate payroll-related tasks and liaise with the external payroll service provider to ensure a smooth and timely payroll as well as compliance with SARS, UIF, and BCEA requirements.
  • Support HR administration by coordinating with the external HR consultant on , contracts, onboarding processes, etc and maintain HR documentation in line with BCEA and POPIA standards.
  • Provide general office administration support to management and staff.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years’ experience in office administration and bookkeeping.
  • Familiarity with payroll processes and HR administration in a South African context.
  • Basic knowledge of BCEA, UIF, PAYE, and general HR compliance requirements advantageous.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and accounting software such as SAGE, Quickbooks, etc
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
